Philippine-American Friendship Committee, Inc. (PAFCOM) headed by overall chairman William “Bong” Pineda, celebrates the 20th annual event commemorating the friendship between the Philippines and the US, a relationship that has spanned over six decades. This year’s grand marshals are Tom and Lida Zabala.
The Friendship Day celebration features marching bands, colorful floats, a cultural show, a food festival galore, a flea market, a health fair, the Filipino Idol 2010 grand finals, and performances from Rhian, Mark and Kris - GMA Network and GMA Pinoy TV are sending four of
their biggest homegrown talents - who will be
joined by a number of local Fil-Am talents.

The 95rd fiesta celebration of Our Lady Of Victories parish in Jersey City kicked off last Friday, September 28 with the first day of novena and mass. Father Vic Paloma, the Parish Pastor celebrated the mass with Mother Mary's profound humility as the center of his homily.

Big community activities are scheduled at the end of the novena day on Saturday, October 2. The highlight of the weeklong celebration is the "Fiesta Mass" at the main altar of the OLV church and will be followed by the procession around the neighborhood on Sunday, October 7..
"I am personally inviting our parishioners, their families and friends and all those who wish to join us in the celebration to come and enjoy the different events we prepared for you", said Fr. Vic. A Flea Market will be held at the basement of the school along 240 Ege Avenue (between West Side and Kennedy Blvd.). "There will also be a Health Fair, foods and lots of fun" the pastor added. The door will be opened at 9am.
Dinner Dance starts at six o'clock. The "big bang" for the evening's ball is the drawing of big major prizes. This is in addition to door gifts and other items.
A souvenir journal is being prepared to document the event. Fr. Victor Paloma is calling for kind hearts to help and support the church in its mission. From the good pastor: "Our thanks to those who offer their services, finances, support and other valuable and crucial help to make the affair a success. My special mention to Mrs. Purita Vasquez, (pictured below center) whose unquestionable support and leadership make the affairs of the parish always a resounding success."
